* My medical licenses were suspended for five years, two years active and three years stayed, May 1, 2003 to May 1, 2008, as part of a settlement agreement with the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners after a case that presented a number of difficult issues that required consideration of the proper role and limits of innovation and the weighing of the risks and benefits of a potentially beneficial procedure, rapid opiate detoxification (ROD).
